My Idea and Saatchi & Saatchi

8 03 2010

I’m not really allowed to say too much about what’s going on.

But, I will say that, as a group, we responded to a brief set by Saatchi & Saatchi. I just got word from the agency that they will be using my idea. I have been offered a week of work placement with them, to take during the summer, I assume.

All very good news. Hopefully I will be able to reveal my idea at some point.

Saatchi and Saatchi Gagged.

I can’t talk about what I may or may not be working on for Saatchi and Saatchi at the moment. But it is all good stuff πŸ™‚

Challenging the expected is a powerful tool in advertising. This image reminds me the Banksy stuff I’ve seen. It makes you pay just a little more attention to the image and it’s more memorable as a result of it’s ability to challenge norms.

Here is an example of a Banksy that does the same thing:

I found a few others when I was on StumbleUpon. Check them Β out:

Seen any others? I’d like to see them.

Marina and the Diamonds.

Here is Marina and the Diamonds from last night’s Jonathan Ross show.

I see she’s decided to adopt the shoulder pad look – much like every other female in the charts right now.

Have a read of an awkward interview that I did with her in her dressing room at CAMP Bestival last year here.

Go and watch Mowgli’s Road video here.

Get these people off me.

Now that’s what I call thinking laterally…or you could say vertically. πŸ™‚

Networked Blogs

6 02 2010

Since starting my blog a few days ago, I’ve been a little obsessed with increasing the traffic. I’m not sure why, perhaps because I’m used to willing high CTR and CTOR on the direct marketing I do for Lush.

But I found this clever application on facebook that will help you out if you are looking to do the same – It’s become my biggest referee, logging a couple of lands to my home page each day.

You can categorise your blog. So that when users search categories, occasionally yours will pop up.

You can link your blog to other blogs.

But perhaps the main reason for me using this application is because it automatically updates your Facebook status with each new blog you post(it can take an hour or two before it does it) but it will do it. Takes effort out of posting yourself and increases blog traffic.

Tories on LinkedIN

6 02 2010

I’ve just discovered LinkedIn. It is a great tool for networking. You can search for jobs, join groups etc – all helping you to get better networked.

One of the best things about this website is that if you want to work for a certain company, you can search for the company and see who, among your contacts, knows people that work at that company. How else would you be able to find out such information? You need this in your life, and selfishly I’d like you in my network please. So do add me.

You can now also run your blog feed on your profile, too. More likely to get some traffic that can employee you? Check mine out here.

With all that said, along with good comes the bad.Β You really can’t get away from the Tories. Here is a feature on the sidebar with 35 replies:

So, to recap, LinkedIN is INteresting, INgenious, INvaluable and a little Tory INtrusive.
